The recent HKU Body Donation Day 2025 – Lingering Love, was a profound exploration of life, death, and the human body, offering attendees a unique opportunity to engage with topics rarely discussed in everyday life. We were pleased to welcome around 300 participants from diverse age groups and ethnic backgrounds, including members of minority communities, to join this meaningful event. The event featured a range of activities, including an introduction to the embalming process, anatomy lab tours, reflective sessions on life and mortality, and interactive experiences with advanced VR technology. Participants also took part in discussions on life and death from intergenerational perspectives and gained deeper insights into the Body Donation Programme's mission through heartfelt sharing by teachers, students, and donor family members. This year, we partnered with other HKU unit and NGOs to introduce new activities, such as a simulated mourning hall, opportunities to take black-and-white portraits, and the experience of lying inside a coffin to encourage deep reflection. Booths were also set up to promote medical knowledge and life-and-death education. The event was both educational and thought-provoking, leaving participants with a greater understanding of life's fragility and the vital role of body donation in advancing medical education and research.
