Just like us

In the first dissection practical today, my PBC group and I explored different muscles in the chest wall and also had first-hand experience in sawing a bone. It is easy to simply treat the cadaver a tool for learning medicine, but seeing the realistic looking hands as again reminded me that once, the body belonged to anther human being who led a life just like the rest of us. It reminded me of the importance of establishing human connection with patients in order to be a good doctor.
I also genuinely appreciate how the now deceased people had had the courage and mere strong-minded enough to donate their bodies to the medical field, as it is not an easy decision to allow your body to be pulled apart. This once again allowed me to feel grateful about the Great Body Teachers for their sacrifice and caused me even more to study harder and also fully prepare for dissection practical, so that their sacrifices do not go to waste.
