Year 1 Medical Student (2026)
I remember the first time I open the thorax and saw the lungs laid bare. They are soft, spongy and unexpectedly beautiful. Textbooks and slides’ diagram became tactile maps: bronchi branching like a tree, pleura shimmering, lobes folding with logic. My hands shook at first, then steadied as curiosity and respect take over. The Great Body Teacher guided us with precision, pointing out textures, clinical correlation (our teacher died with pneumonia), and the ethical duty we owe donors.
Handling real human tissue made medicine’s stakes immediate. I thought about the person behind the specimen and feel great gratitude. The practical taught me humility, responsibility and a sharper clinical curiosity. I left the lab energised and more confident, as I am now more aware of both human fragility and resilience. I will carry this meaningful lesson into every patient encounter with gratitude. Thanks for the opportunity of this session and I am looking forward to the future anatomy practical.
