Year 1 Medical Student (2026)
The first dissection practical was a powerful reminder that anatomy is more than structures and labels. Seeing the human body in real life made everything feel more real and meaningful, and very different from learning through textbooks alone. The donor was not just a specimen, but a person who once lived, and reorganising them as “Great Body Teacher” highlighted the generosity and trust behind body donation.
This experience also changed how I view the human body. It is complex, varied, and far less orderly than diagrams suggest, reinforcing that real patient will never be “textbook perfect”. The practical prompted reflection on life, mortality, and the responsibility we have as medical students to learn with care and respect. Overall, it was both a humbling and meaningful start to learn medicine.
