Message to the Students, Doctors and Teachers at the University of Hong Kong

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mrs. Amelia Tang Fong Ming Chun, on December 8, 2025. She left us peacefully, and although her loss is profound for our family, we find comfort in the cherished memories we shared.
Our mother was a registered professional nurse who trained in the United Kingdom during the 1960s, a time when pursuing an education abroad was both rare and prestigious. She completed a three-year training program at Dreadnought Hospital School of Nursing in London, earning qualifications as both a registered nurse and a midwife. During her training, she cared for many patients in hospitals and assisted in delivering numerous babies in the UK. Upon her return to Hong Kong, she dedicated her career to the Operating Ward at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kowloon, where she contributed her professional skills to complex surgeries. From her, we learned the significance of precise body measurements, rigorous training, and expert techniques in ensuring successful operations.
In accordance with her wishes, she chose to donate her body to the University of Hong Kong, allowing her to continue contributing to the field of medicine even after her passing. We hope her contributions will be valuable to the University. Please extend our best wishes to all the training students, graduates and colleagues of the Faculty of Medicine.
